In 2022, a US film titled Black Adam stars the titular character of DC Comics, played by actor and former professional wrestler, Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the movie was written by Rory Haines, Adam Sztykiel, and Sohrab Noshirvani. It is the 11th entry in the DCEU.

The film, which stars Johnson, Centineo, Kenzari, Hodge, Swindell, and Brosnan, is produced by DC Films, New Line Cinema, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo, and distributed by Warner Bros.

Johnson was initially attached to play the role of Black Adam in the film, but the producers decided to give it to him instead. In October 2017, Polish actor Adam Sztyckiel was cast. In June 2019, Jaume Fernandez-Serra joined the project and the movie's release date was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Over the next year, more casting was done for the film, including four members of The Justice Society of America. It was filmed at Trilith Studios in Georgia and in Los Angeles. The script was written by Noshirvani and Haines.

The film's world premiere was held in Mexico City on October 23, 2022. It was released in the US on October 21, 2022. The movie was generally praised by critics, who also gave it mixed reviews. It earned around $400 million worldwide, which is considered to be a box-office bomb due to the high budget and marketing expenses. However, both Warner Bros. and Negotiations Hollywood disputed this claim.

It was then reported that Johnson's team might have leaked incorrect information about the movie's profitability to help counter reports that it would lose money.
